About the Club and Track
Kāpiti BMX Club operates from the same site it has used since 1981 and is one of New Zealand’s older BMX clubs. The current club was formed in 2000. It is a family-friendly, all-inclusive organisation that follows BMX New Zealand rules and emphasises fun and skill development regardless of age, gender or ability.
The track sits within Te Ātiawa Park, a multi-sport reserve managed by Kāpiti Coast District Council. The park also provides rugby, cricket, softball, netball and tennis facilities, a refreshed playground, public toilets, accessible parking and open green space.
The club fills a gap for riders on the Kāpiti Coast between Wellington City facilities and areas further north. Training sessions focus on technique, including start-gate practice, before riders progress to racing.
