About Enjoy

Enjoy was established as an artist-run initiative and has operated as one of Wellington’s key independent contemporary art spaces for over two decades. The programme is deliberately experimental, presenting work by artists at different career stages — emerging practitioners alongside more established figures. Exhibitions tend to be short-run, meaning the programme moves quickly and there’s usually something new to see on each visit.

Beyond exhibitions, Enjoy runs artist residencies including use of the Rita Angus Cottage in Mount Victoria — a historic cottage that has supported artist residencies for decades. The organisation also publishes writing on contemporary art practice in Aotearoa.

The Left Bank Arcade

The Left Bank Arcade is an indoor passage connecting Cuba Street to a neighbouring laneway, lined with small independent businesses. It’s well known to Wellington’s art community but easy to walk past without noticing — look for the arcade entrance on Cuba Street. The gallery space itself is compact and focused, drawing attention to the work rather than the architecture.
